Yemen – Floods (IFRC, DG ECHO) (ECHO Daily Flash of 27 June 2019)

Heavy rain in recent weeks has caused major flash flooding in 12 governorates of Yemen, displacing thousands of people. The floods have also contaminated local water sources in areas already affected by cholera. The European Commission is providing €110,000 in humanitarian funding to the Yemeni Red Crescent Society to assist 14,000 individuals who have lost their properties and livelihoods. The funding is part of the EU’s overall contribution to the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
